Viewing and managing the Knowledge Center

How to navigate the Knowledge Center, view its details, edit its settings, and move assets between folders.

The Knowledge Center is the central hub for all your content and resources (knowledge assets in Joy). By housing all assets here and organizing them into folders, you ensure that your team can always find what they need in one place.

Knowledge Center page

You can get to the Knowledge Center from the main menu.

In the tree menu, you can see all the folders in your Knowledge Center, arranged in a hierarchy. This organization provides a high-level view of your Knowledge Center, allowing you to navigate quickly. Click the Expand Arrow beside a folder to view its subfolders, and click a folder name to go to that location.

Folder and asset cards

Within the main area of the Knowledge Center, you can see all of your folders and assets. These appear as individual cards.

Click a folder's card to navigate inside and view its contents, or click an asset's card to view it.

You can also click the More Actions icon on any asset's card to view additional options. For example, you can click the More Actions icon on a FlexDoc's card to view the asset's details or quickly edit it.

Viewing the Knowledge Center's details

Click the Information icon to learn more about your Knowledge Center, such as when it was created. This opens the Knowledge Center Admin panel, which features two tabs: Overview and Details.

Overview tab

The Overview tab provides a high-level summary of the Knowledge Center.

About: A description of the Knowledge Center.

Details tab

The Details tab is organized into two sections.

Basic info

  • Library Name: The name of the Knowledge Center.
  • Created by: The user who created the Knowledge Center and the date and time that they created it.
  • Edited by: The user who last updated the Knowledge Center and the date and time of the update.

Advanced

  • API ID: The ID you can use to reference the Knowledge Center if you are using the Joy API.

Editing the Knowledge Center's settings

Go to your Knowledge Center

Open the Knowledge Center from the main menu.

Open the Knowledge Center Admin panel

Click the Information icon in the header.

View the Details tab

All of the Knowledge Center's fields and settings are found here.

Click the Edit icon

The fields on the tab become editable.

Edit the fields and settings

Update the Knowledge Center's fields and settings as needed.

Save your changes

Click the Save icon.

Knowledge Center fields and settings

All of the Knowledge Center's fields and settings are found on the Details tab of the Knowledge Center Admin panel, organized into two sections.

Basic Info

  • Library Name: The name of the Knowledge Center.
  • About: A description of the Knowledge Center. This is a great place to give your users an idea of what types of assets they can find. For example, you can describe the purpose of the Knowledge Center or provide a summary of the information it contains.

Advanced

  • API ID (view only): The ID you can use to reference the Knowledge Center if you are using the Joy API.

Moving assets in the Knowledge Center

You can quickly reorganize your Knowledge Center to keep it tidy by dragging and dropping files, FlexDocs, or folders.

Go to your Knowledge Center

Open the Knowledge Center from the main menu.

Click and hold the asset or folder

Select the asset or folder that you want to move.

Drag it to the destination folder

Drag the asset to the folder where you want to move it.

Release the mouse

Drop the asset into the folder.

A success message will briefly appear where you can click Undo to move the asset back to its original location.
