About the FlexDoc Editor

An overview of the FlexDoc Editor and its key parts, including the header, pages tree menu, toolbars, and slash menu.

The FlexDoc Editor is a powerful tool in Joy where you create professional and flexible documents known as FlexDocs. Quickly build rich documents featuring pages, text, images, tables, lists, AI-generated content, and more. Then, when you're ready, publish the FlexDoc to share it with your users.

The editor has several key parts. Being familiar with them will help you as you add content to your FlexDoc.

At the top of the FlexDoc Editor is the header, where you see the FlexDoc's name. You can quickly rename a FlexDoc by hovering over the name and clicking the Edit icon.

Depending on the current state of your FlexDoc, you'll see different buttons in the header:

Button When it appears What it does
Create Draft You haven't made any changes to a published FlexDoc Creates an editable version of your FlexDoc where you can make changes to its contents
Publish You're viewing a draft Makes your changes visible to other users
Edit Draft You're viewing the published version Switches to the draft where you can update the contents. You can also use the dropdown to switch between the draft and published version

Click the Information icon to quickly view and edit the FlexDoc's details. The More Actions icon gives you options to view the FlexDoc's details and edit its settings.

Toolbar

Use the toolbar for easy access to editing and formatting options, or to insert images, videos, and tables. You can also use it to access AI tools that help you generate and refine your content. If it looks familiar, that's because it's similar to the ones in tools such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs.

If you're using a mouse or trackpad, hover over any icon in the toolbar to learn what it does.
