Navigating Joy

A tour of Joy's main areas, navigation tools, common interface elements, and the User Profile menu.

Joy is built around a few key areas and a handful of interface elements that repeat throughout the system. Once you know them, you can find your way anywhere.

Key places in Joy

  • Knowledge Center: Where all your knowledge assets live, including files and FlexDocs.
  • Tasks: Where you can see tasks assigned to you, tasks you've assigned to others, and tasks shared with you. Assigning an asset creates a task.
  • Admin Center: Your central hub for managing everything in your account.

Take the tour — hover, tap, or focus each pin to see how the core navigation tools fit together:

Hover, tap, or focus the numbered pins, and switch the language to watch the whole screen translate. One interactive screen like this can stand in for several of the "arrow pointing at one element" screenshots in this article.

Tree menu

Use the tree menu to navigate within specific pages. For instance, in the Knowledge Center, the tree menu displays folders and assets in a hierarchy, helping you zoom in on specific areas to find the content you're looking for.

Tips for efficient navigation

  • Use the search: If you know what you're looking for, start with a keyword search.
  • Explore the tree menu: Browse through folders to explore content.

Common Joy elements

As you explore Joy, you'll notice certain elements appear frequently, making the system consistent and user-friendly.

The tasks page in Joy, showing all UI elements in Spanish. The sidebar navigation on the left includes "Tareas," "Centro de conocimient," "Centro de administracion," and "Ayuda." The main content area shows headings and buttons for "Mis tareas," "Asignado por mi," and "Todas las tareas."

Cards

Cards help you quickly view and access important information about assets (e.g., FlexDocs), users, and more. Each card provides a snapshot of key details — like name or progress — so you can easily scan and find what you need at a glance.

Panels

When you click on most objects in Joy (like assets or users), they open in a panel that gives you a quick summary and access to more details. Panels make navigation easy — you can close them at any time and pick up right where you left off.

The File Admin panel for a file called Employee Travel Policies. The panel is open to the Overview tab, which displays the description A PDF of PMI Delta Engineering's employee travel policies.

Tabs

Tabs organize information into separate sections within a single area, such as within a panel. You can quickly switch between tabs with just a click, allowing you to view lots of details without leaving your current screen.

Many pages feature a search that helps you quickly find what you need. For example, on the Users page, you can find a user by typing in part of their name.

User Profile menu

The User Profile menu lets you decide how you experience Joy — for example, change the language the interface appears in or log out to keep your account secure. Above these settings, you'll also see your name, email address, and the current time. If you see someone else's name, log out, then log in with your own username and password.

The My Tasks page is shown. The user profile menu has been clicked, showing a popup with user details, a change language option, and a logout option. A menu is shown after clicking the user profile icon. An arrow is pointing to the Logout option.

Changing the language

Customize how Joy displays by setting your preferred language. You can choose English, French, or Spanish. The main menu, buttons, panels, and other screens will display in your preferred language; folders and assets in the Knowledge Center remain unchanged.

To change your display language, click the User Profile menu, select Change language, then choose the language you want to use.

If you're a user, the selected language is used until you log out of Joy, close your web browser, or log in on a different device. If you're an owner, the selected language is used each time you use Joy. Learn more in About users and roles.

A dropdown menu appears when you click the Change language option, showing a list of languages to choose from.

Logging out

If you share a device or computer with other people, it's a good idea to log out of Joy whenever you're not using it. To log out, open the User Profile menu and click Logout.
