Enterprise AI Security

Definition

The set of policies, technologies, and practices that protect an organization's data, intellectual property, and users when deploying AI systems in the workplace.

Enterprise AI security addresses the unique risks that come with AI adoption: preventing sensitive company data from leaking into public AI models, ensuring role-based access controls so employees only see information they're authorized to access, guarding against prompt injection attacks, and maintaining audit trails of AI interactions. Unlike consumer AI tools, enterprise-grade AI platforms must comply with industry regulations (HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR), support data residency requirements, and provide administrators with visibility into how AI is being used across the organization. Strong AI security is what separates tools employees are allowed to use from shadow AI they adopt without IT approval.
